DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICE
Destitution is the provision of psychosocial support to destitute persons and these encompasses food, shelter and clothing.
The 1980 Policy defined destitute person as: “
- an individual who is without assets ( resources and assets defined as cattle, other livestock, land, cash cannot plough due to ill health, handicap, close family members cannot? Will not assist him/ her :and
- is physically or mentally incapable of working due to Old age, physical or mental handicap; or
- is a minor child, or children whose parent (s) has/ have died or deserted the family; or
- Is an individual who is rendered helpless due to natural disaster or temporary hardship.”

HOW DO I OBTAIN THE SERVICE
Through self referral to the S & CD Office or referral by VDC, Councilors.
HOW DO I APPLY THE SERVICE
After passing an assessment is carried by Social Worker that will determine if the client qualifies or not.
