CLINICAL WASTE COLLECTION SERVICE

DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICE

The Environmental Health Division offers clinical waste collection for the benefit of the community where such is generated i.e. from hospitals, clinics, private practitioners, public institutions and Home Based Care (HBC) patients.

Clinical waste includes and is not limited sharps, bandages, sanitary pads and diapers or nappies.

HOW DO I OBTAIN THE SERVICE?

• Report at sanitation depot if one generates clinical waste
• Registration and schedule for collection set
• Service is provided within set standard of 24 hours

COST INVOLVED IN OBTAINING THE SERVICE? 

• Hospitals and other institutions/ Local Authorities – P32.00 per kg
• Home Based Care – Free of Charge
• Private Practitioners – currently offered for free

Invoices are issued at the end of each month.
