The 3rd of November 2012 saw the Ministry of Local Government; through the Department of Social Services commemorate The International Day of the Elderly. The well-attended event was characterized by the attendance of the Minister of Local Government, Hon. P. L. Siele, The Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Hon. J. Swartz, The Permanent Secretary of Local Government, Mr. B. Khumomatlhare, Kgosi Lekgothu, other government officials and elderly people from the Ghanzi region.

Tshwaragano ya Bogosi le Puso ke popo ya chaba ee tiileng”, was the theme of the inaugural conference of the Bogosi Association of Botswana which was held on the 28th of July 2012 in Ghanzi. This maiden assembly was characterized by the attendance of the Honorable Minister of Local Government- Mr. Peter Siele, DPS Local Governance- Mr. S. M. Keaja, representatives from the Department of Tribal Administration, respective Council Secretaries and various Dikgosi.
