Please be informed that Gaborone City Council has suspended consideration of all applications to erect ,re-erect,re-instate or replace all off premises signs,billboards and any form of outdoor advertising whether on council,private or state land,pending the approval of the OUTDOOR ADVERTISING BYE LAW.This moratorium takes immediate effect upon publication in news papers until further notice.

This has been necessitated by indiscriminate illegal sitting of signs on residential plots and road reserves resulting in clutter,visual intrusion of signs which are out character with the built form in terms of size and height.This will enable the council to review the existing regulations governing erection of signs,and further identify appropriate locations for different types off premises advertising such as billboards,directional signs,sky signs,blimps,transit advertising and information's signs etc.

Gaborone City Council apologises for any inconvinience that may be caused by this exercise.
