GCC/EOI/26/2016 - EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT AND REFURBISHMENT OF THE CIVIC CENTRE/TOWN HALL (PLOT 330 AND REMAINDER OF PLOT 329) INTO A MIXED USE DEVELOPMENT Background Information Gaborone City lacks a distinctive image and local character, including a sense of place that is welcoming, legible and with a strong public realm. In addition, there is a conspicuous absence of enough land marks and conscious efforts to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of the city.It is considered that the solution to all these lie in the application of urban design concepts and principles. As a starting point in enhancing the image and character of the City the first target area shall be the innermost core of the city delineated as the “Capital Core.” The Civic Centre plot 330 and remainder of plot 329which forms part of the Gaborone City Council’s property portfolio falls within the Capital Core as per the Gaborone Development Plan.
Economic Stimulus Building Infrastructure Programme  Request for Expressions of Interest (EOI) Construction Companies Registered with Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) are invited to express interest to carry out Infrastructure projects under the Economic Stimulus Programme, for Building & Electrical Works at Ithuteng & Boswa Primary Schools in Gaborone for Gaborone City Council.
INTRODUCTION OF WASTE COLLECTION FEE Gaborone City Council wishes to inform the Public that there will be an introduction of Waste Collection Fee of P10.00 per month per household in Gaborone effective 1st April 2016. This will translate into the payment of P120.00 per year.  This fee is a service fee for collection of waste from individual households. The fees will be included in the annual Rates payable once a year. 
PUBLIC NOTICE The public is informed that Bofinet will be using the Bus rank Public parking space for the Hon Minister of Transport and Communication to launch WI-FI to the public on the 28th September 2015 at 0900hrs. Gaborone City Council therefore requests the public to find alternative parking on that day. This initiative is part of the government’ s commitment to develop a National Information and Communications Technology(ICT) called MAITLAMO to assist in achieving ICT pillar of vision 2016 of being a well educated and informed nation. The aim of this project is to build and manage a Public Wi- Fi infrastructure that would create a platform for service providers to provide connectivity within a large spectrum of locations without exuberant investment overlays.
PUBLIC NOTICE Gaborone City Council requests the public to refrain from advertising illegally on council land without authority.  Some of the illegal advertisements have been found on bus/taxi shelters, and individuals or companies doing so will be prosecuted, quoting Section 17(1) of the township Act provides that; No bill, poster, placard or advertisement shall be displayed within the council area without the written consent of the council. It continues to state that; No advertisement is allowed on all road junctions, traffic circles and traffic lights. Council shall stipulate time within which bills, posters and placards or advertisement shall be removed.
