Central District Council comes for twinning benchmarking The Central District Council sent a delegation of six (6) people to come and benchmark on issues pertaining to twinning in the City of Francistown. The delegation came on the 12th August 2016 and it was led by Tassman Chebani who is the Chairperson of the Twinning and Partnership Committee in central District.

Presidential Task Team Consults Francistown The Presidential Task Team was in Francistown on the 8th August 2016 to consult with the city on issues pertaining to government programmes that have been rolled out country wide. The task team was led by the former Member of Parliament for Molepolole North, Honorable Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri who said that they are in Francistown to hear about success, challenges and way forward in addressing government programmes. He said that they are here to assess how money has been spent on different projects and the uptake of those projects. The committee has been given the mandate which they have to accomplish within a year.

PSP PREACHES ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE On the 12th of April 2016, the Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP), Carter Morupisi addressed public officers in Francistown about the Economic Stimulus Package. He informed them that the programme will run for three years and target projects which were shelved due to recession and other new projects that will help to stimulate the economy.

COUNCIL CONSULTS THE CENTRAL RESIDENTIAL AREA RESIDENTS AND PROPERTY OWNERS City of Francistown Council held a consultation meeting with residents of Central Residential Area (CRA) with regard to the proposed change of land use in their area. The consultation was held on the 18th April 2016 at the Civic Centre Hall.  The previous consultation on the proposed change of land use of the area was held way back in 2011 where those in attendance gave a resounding NO to the proposal. Regrettably the Council has been receiving applications from residents and property owners in CRA who want to change the land use of their plots.

PUBLIC NOTICE THE PUBLIC IS HEREBY INFORMED THAT MONARCH (PHASE V) CEMETERIES HAVE BEEN CLOSED FOR USE INDEFINATELY AND COUNCIL WHISHES TO EMPHASISE THAT THE CEMETERIES WERE CLOSED DURING A FULL COUNCIL SEATING IN 2015. WE ARE CURRENTLY INDEBTED WITH REQUESTS FOR BURIAL PERMITS AT THE AFOREMENTIONED CEMETERIES AND WE DECLARE THAT THEY WILL BE NO FURTHER REQUESTS ADMITTED BY THE COUNCIL AUTHORIES. THIS CLOSURE IS WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT AND WE APOLOGIES FOR ANY INCONVINIECES THAT MAY BE CAUSED BY THESE DEVELOPMENT.
