DESTITUTION PROGRAMME

The framework of the Revised National policy on destitute person of 2002 is to ensure that government provides minimum assistance to the genuine destitute person to ensure their good health and welfare. The policy defines a destitute as an individual who, due top disabilities or chronic health condition, is unable to engage in sustainable economic activities and has insufficient assets and income sources.

HOW DO I OBTAIN THE SERVICE?

·         Contacting the office (self referral)

·         Referrals’ (clinic,VDC,Councillors and NGO’S within the community )

HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE SERVICE?

The service is not applied for rather an assessment is conducted to determine legibility to be registered as a destitute person or not.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The service is for free and no costs are incurred.

WHERE CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION?

Contact Social and Community Development office at RAC, New Caravans or liaise with any area officer in their respective extension areas.
