General description:

Central District Council is charged with the provision of infrastructure and social services to the Central District Community. It is in line with its quest for excellence in service delivery that talented and qualified professionals are invited to apply for the following positions;

Purpose of the job
To plan, coordinate and monitor provision of quantity surveying at the sub district level.

Job description:

Core areas of responsibilities

  • Ensures provision of quantity surveying services for the local authority in support to building facilities development and maintenance in conformity with established legislation, regulations, policies and directives.
  • Prepares cost estimates of building projects and maintenance projects.
  • Supervises the preparation of bills of quantities and specifications for both maintenance and building projects to guide in the development of the budget for the works.
  • Supervises maintenance and construction works to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Responsible for periodic monitoring, reporting and preparation of cost/financial appraisals including preparation and settlement of final accounts.
  • Coordinates examination, evaluation of contractual claims and certification of payments to contractors
  • Directly responsible to the head of department, for overall supervision and management of all aspects of “pre contract” and “post contract” stages of contracts
  • Undertakes any other duties as directed by management.

Job requirements:

Position requirements

A minimum of a degree in Building Economics /Quantity Surveying from a recognized university and eight (8) years relevant work experience, 2 years of which must have been served as Senior Quantity Surveyor at D4 scale or equivalent.
