Central District Council is charged with the provision of infrastructure and social services to the Central District Community. Purpose of the job

To prepare, implement and revise comprehensive physical development plans, details layout plans and district settlement strategies and zoning regulations.

Core areas of responsibilities

• Supervises all physical planning activities in the sub district.
• Prepares terms of reference for development plans, monitors the preparation of urban and rural settlements development plans and detailed layout plans, urban /district development plans, district land use plans and settlement strategy plans.
• Ensures that the implementation of the legal provisions and policy instruments relating to development control to ensure that proposed development conform to approved plans.
• Oversees and monitors revision of urban/district development plans, district land use plans and district settlements plans.
• Prepares integrated land use plans with relevant stakeholders for use by land boards and other allocating authorities.
• Drafts development control standards, policies, guidelines and codes of practice to guide the implementation of plans.
• Drafts guidelines and codes and processes them for approval to guide the implementation of plans.

Position requirements
 

A minimum of a degree in Urban and Regional Planning from a recognized university plus 2 years as Senior Physical Planner at D4 level or equivalent.
