Limited vacancies exist in the BDF for Female Officer Cadets. The following qualitative requirements shall apply to all candidates:

Entry Requirements:

• Female Botswana Citizen
• Aged between 18 and 24
• Be physically and mentally fit
• Should have no adverse criminal record
• Candidates should be in possession of “Omang” or show valid proof of registration
• Candidates should have minimum qualification of a degree. Applicants who are still pursuing their tertiary education will not be considered.
• Applicants from serving public officers must be routed through their Heads of Department for them to be considered.

Tanzania produced the first batch of Botswana Defense Force female cadets in 2008. His Excellency lieutenant general Seretse Khama Ian Khama, President of the Republic of Botswana, visited Tanzania during that auspicious and historic event, which marked the entrance into the ranks of Botswana Defense Force of the first
ever Batswana women soldiers. The Republic of Botswana cannot but express profound gratitude for this generous assistance on the part of Tanzania, and shall forever be indebted for the support and solidarity.
