G4S hosts global leadership conference

GABORONE - The G4S Botswana recently hosted the groups leadership programme conference in Gaborone.

Speaking at the event the managing director for the security services group, Mr Percy Raditladi pointed out that G4S has made its mark in the country and internationally sighting that to date it has employed around 585 000 people worldwide in around 116 countries.

Mr Raditladi further added that the G4S has performed well in the local market and internationally, adding that in 2003 when then Securicor International - now G4S came into the Botswana market the company faced apprehension due to distrust for global companies but government allowed them to enter the Botswana market and the company since managed to make its presence felt.

Underlining the application of best practice methods used in the company worldwide, Mr Raditladi further said between January 2004 and June 2009, G4S Botswana generated P315 million P26 million went to G4S Plc, while P315 million remained in Botswana and P20 Million was paid in taxes.

Mr Raditladi added that the company has also seen an increase in human resource as it now employ close to 2600 people compared o the initial work force of 955 in 2004.

Head of Executive Training for G4Splc London, Mr Mike Alsop, said the companys excellent performance should not come as a surprise as they try to find the best people in all the countries where they exist.

He said the values that guide the company are centred on the development of human resources, and thus the company strives to get the best people to work for it.

Mr Alsop further said upon identifying the people they y engage them for a period of two years during which time they undergo training in areas such as marketing and strategy development, organisational structure, human resource, finance and accountancy skills and change leadership. BOPA
