Police arrest P9 000 robbery suspect27 November, 2009 | |
TSHABONG - The police in Tsabong have arrested a suspect in connection with a robbery in which a businessman was robbed P9 000 at his home on the night of November 20.
Tsabong Police Station commander, Superintendent Mokolobetsi Marata had indicated that the businessman of Indian origin was approached by two men on arrival at his residence, who threatened him with a knife before disappearing into darkness after snatching the money. Mr Marata said so far they had arrested one of the suspects and is helping the police with the investigations. In another case, Supt Marata said the Tsabong police recently engaged in a cleanup operation in which 11 aliens were arrested and charged with varying offences. Mr Marata said three foreigners were arrested and charged for overstaying in Botswana while the other three were charged for staying illegally in the country. Mr Marata said two other foreigners were charged with failure to produce identification documents while one who is running a business was charged with employing another foreigner without a work permit. He added that two foreigners were charged with working without permits. Sup Marata said the foreigners were fined between P200 and P300, adding that those who failed to pay the fines would appear before Tsabong Magistrate Court in due course. BOPA |
