Epic clashes in premiership27 November, 2009 | |
MOLEPOLOLE - Struggling Notwane face a mammoth task when they meet tough and free scoring Mochudi Centre Chiefs in the be Mobile league clash.
The game is scheduled for the University of Botswana stadium tonight at 1930hrs. Still seeking their first league win, it will be a night of long knives for Notwane against a side making a challenge for the league championship. Magosi who finished as the runners up last season enter the game challenging for the championship while Toronto is fighting the relegation mightmares. A winless campaign since the league started haunts Notwane as it managed only five points from eight matches. Stern test awaits the team against Kgatleng giants who have not lost a league match this season. Magosi, 12 points adrift from Notwane, are a motivated lot after gunning down defending champions GU 2-1 from their last encounter. While Toronto only managed a 1-all draw with Nico last weekend their greatest undoing was their poor finishing upfront. The once mighty Toronto are organised at the back but lack proper finishing upfront. Defenders Moreetsi Mosimanyana, Kenamile Mani and Desire Bafana are expected to keep a hawks eye to thwart rivals offensives engineered from the middle of the park by middle fielders Dirang Moloi, Othusitse Pilane and Elijah Montsho who could be merciless on their day. This is an area where Toronto should expect a fierce battle where their former playmaker Moloi could make their evening horrific. They would be expected to guard Mweuku Musonda and Moemedi Moatlhaping upfront. It will be up to Notwanes national Under 20 players Galagwe Moyana and Kgaodi Odirile as well as the veteran: Keoagetse Radipotsane to stabilise the midfield. Meanwhile, other interesting battles are expected in different sporting avenues. GU, coming victorious from their midweek encounter, lock horns with Extension Gunners in Lobatse on Sunday. GU are motivated after walloping BDF 2-1 and face another tough game against a side also challenging for the championship. Gunners are having the best ever league run under coach Daniel Nare and have produced mesmerising performances against opponents in their previous matches. Removing a tag name of season relegation candidates, Mapantsula are perched at the second spot with 19 points, five points behind log leaders Township Rollers. Gunners Bernard Simakwenzi, the current league top goal scorer with nine goals, will seek to make a challenge for the golden boot award when he meets the Gaborone side. Long trip awaits Tafic who meet rookies Jwaneng Comets at Galaxy stadium in Jwaneng. The two sides are haunted by losses they suffered from previous encounters. Tafic suffered a two-nil loss to Gunners while Comets suffered a 4-2 demolition on Tuesday against Santos. Molepolole stadium will be a battlefield for Santos and inconsistent Barry Dakas side Police XI. Santos Mogakolodi Ngele who is enjoying a fine season is also making a challenge for the green boot and has netted eight goals. Nico United entertain Ecco City Greens in their fortress Selebi Phikwe stadium while Killers Giants enter a lions den with unpredictable Boteti at Itekeng stadium. Another beleaguered side BMC will wrestle with Madinda Ndlovus Motlakase in Francistown. On Sunday, BDF who are still counting the loss they suffered midweek against GU, enter the lions den with league pacesetters Rollers in Molepolole. Sitting in the driving seat with 24 points from nine outings, Rollers under Rahman Gumbo are one of the strong league challengers. All games starts at 1500 hours. BOPA |
