Tibone presents financial breakdown18 November, 2009 | |
GABORONE - Parliament has been provided with a breakdown of financial assistance that Barclays Bank extended to local entrepreneurs, businesses and social responsibility programmes over the past five years to September this year.
Providing the house with the breakdown finance and development planning assistant minister, Mr Charles Tibone said the aggregate amount of credit extended to local entrepreneurs and business are; agriculture P29.3 million, transportation P558.2 million, trade and tourism P212 million, manufacturing P10.2 million, housing P1 865 million, construction P21 million and motor vehicle loans P1 096 million. He said the cumulative amounts of money spent on social responsibility programmes were: HIV/AIDS P4.4 million, education P1.8 million, environment and community P430 662 and destitute programmes P936 378 and sport P1 534 million. Mr Tibone was responding to a question in Parliament from Ngwaketse MP Mr Mephato Reatile who had asked the minister to provide a breakdown of financial assistance provided by Barclays Bank to local entrepreneurs and businesses over the past five years in agriculture, transportation, manufacturing, tourism, housing, construction and motor vehicles. Mr Reatile also wanted to know how much money was spent on corporate social investment over the same period in HIV/AIDS, sport, destitute and environment. BOPA |
