Tshosane to take Zebras to 2012 AFCON finals?09 November, 2009 | |
JWANENG - Former coach of Botswana Olympic team has welcomed the appointment of Stanley Tshosane as the Zebras coach.
David Bright said in an interview that he always felt that Tshosane is the right man for the job in view of his dedication and commitment to the game. Botswana Football Association (BFA) appointed Tshosane the national team coach on Friday for a period of two and a half years. Bright said Tshosane has already build a foundation upon which the team can begin challenging the best in the continent. Bright who is currently coaching South African first division side, Bay United said people should be bear in mind that Tshosane alone cannot achieve the daunting task ahead of him. BFA, he said, should provide the coach with all the necessary resources as that will ensure he fulfills his objective. He further said it was too early for the nation to accuse the national team coach of poor performance as he is still transforming the team. Bright said Batswana should understand that football is something that requires patience. H e contends that firing and hiring new coaches will not take the nation anywhere. Former Mogoditshane Fighters coach was impressed by Zebras performance in the just ended COSAFA competition. He added that the coach should build his team using the same players he engaged during the the COSAFA competition. Bright pledged his support for the national team set up. I watch premier league games here and where possible I will give him some advice as to which player he should watch, he said The fact that most players who formed part of the last under 23 team now form the core of the present Zebras team delights him. This is a clear manifestication that we are going somewhere, he added. One of the profound local coaches also expressed delight with the appointment of Tshosane. Daniel Nare who is coaching premiership side, Extension Gunners believes former BDF XI coach has what it takes to guide the team to the 2012 AFCON finals. He challenged all stakeholders to accord Tshosane necessary support. If BFA can give him all the resources Stan will definitely take us somewhere, Nare said. Tshosane also welcomed his appointment. He thanked the BFA for showing confidence in him. Tshosane has been in charge of the national team since the sacking of an Englishman, Colwyn Rowe last year. He said there are those who strongly believe that the national team has not been doing well. He further said he was happy because many Batswana players are now playing in professionalfootball abroad. He said that alone was a plus as it would be reflected in the way the national team performs. Stan said his vision is to transform the Zebras and prepare it into a force that will reach the 2012 AFCON finals. He also thanked Bright for the support he rendered him. He (Bright) released his players, namely Pontsho Moloi and Noah Maposa to come and represent their country in the COSAFA competition, he said. The players he said contributed immensely during the competition adding that he will still need Brights support and help in his endeavor to take the team to 2012 AFCON Finals. All stakeholders should rally behind the team in my attempt to get possitive results in African football. Tshosane is one of the few Batswana coaches who have arrived at the top level of coaching in the country. Presently, Nare is the only local coach leading a premiership side. Most teams are led by expatriate coaches mostly Zimbabweans and Zambians. Some are expected to hire foreign coaches. BOPA |
