Last chance for MNet Face of Africa entry

JWANENG - If the MNet Face of Africa ramp is where you desire to strut your stuff in February next year, then Multichoice Botswana offices at Gaborones Riverwalk is the place to be.

MNet crew will be auditioning for the Face of Africa competition on September 14.

Multichoice Public relations Officer, Tshepo Maphanyane said that the auditions would afford all the catwalk aspirants a chance to enter for the competition. Maphanyane said despite online registration having closed on August 28, new entrants would be considered during the local auditions.

She expressed hope that more girls would pitch up for the audition as it would be the last opportunity to help the lucky ones live the dream.

The PRO said she supported the idea to hold auditions after realising that some potential entrants might have been disadvantaged by lack of resources such as access to internet.

She observed that with auditions she was confident that the affected would be able to be part of the casting.

She said the auditions would be held in 14 countries namely Angola, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe - to evaluate the most promising of the online entrants.

The Face of Africa winner will walk away with US$50 000 from M-Net and a modeling contract with O Model Africa, wheeled by the competitions first winner Oluchi Onweagba.

The aspirants should be aged between 18 and 24, be citizens of the Sub-Saharan Africa with a minimum height of 1.72m and a maximum hip measurement of 96cm.The aspiring contestant should not have any modeling contract.

After the cross continental search the girls will head to a model boot camp where Top 10 finalists would then head for the finale slated for Nigeria in February next year.

Maphanyane said what is exciting about the competition is the famous African supermodel Imans decision to be part of the competition.

With Imans association, the winner will also enjoy another scintillating prize - a day in New York City with IMAN Cosmetics and the opportunity to start off and enhance her career with the guidance of one of the worlds most famous faces. The partnership includes the provision of IMAN cosmetic make-up artists, gift vouchers for the 25 semi-finalists, individual make up sets for the top 10 plus make up and skin products for 12 months for the winner, making IMAN Cosmetics a key partner in the competition.

A philanthropist and highly accomplished businesswoman, Iman began her career with a modeling assignment at Vogue in 1976 and has since graced the pages of the worlds most prestigious and glamorous publications including Harpers Bazaar, Elle and Vanity Fair, inspiring designers such as Yves St. Laurent, Versace, Calvin Klein and Donna Karan.

She has also authored two books, the autobiographical I am Iman and The Color of Beauty: The Ultimate Beauty Guide for Skin of Color. Currently the host and executive producer of Project Runway Canada, she is also an entrepreneur who founded IMAN Cosmetics, Skincare and Fragrances in 1994.
