BFA under pressure
31 May, 2006

GABORONE - Botswana Football Association (BFA) is under pressure of time to establish under 15 and under 17 teams before former Zebras coach Jelusic Veselin can put his plan into motion.

Veselin has been redeployed to undertake the duty of developing youth national teams, a key position he held in Angola.

Angola benefited a lot from Veselins development initiatives and will soon make an inaugural appearance at the worlds biggest football showpiece.

The nation is looking with great curiosity to see how the man who led the Zebras to a major breakthrough in continental football shapes the future of Botswana football.

Vasco is looking at the youth leagues to provide a platform on which to identify talent that he will develop.

Without the envisaged youth league, he will have to tour the country to identify future football players who will wear national colours against the best in the continent.

The BFA has been under criticism in the past two years for failing to establish youth leagues.

The new BFA constitution requires that all teams playing in premier football league should run an under 17 team but all the teams have been unable to sustain those teams because of lack of competitions. BOPA
